Hey guys! Now is that time of year when all those nasty sicknesses go around. I hope you luck out and don’t get sick; I wasn’t so lucky :o( I’m sick right now so I thought I’d make a list of all the things I like to do for myself to feel better while I’m sick.

  • Relaxing Environment
    • Calming
    • Quiet
  • Light some candles
    • Get in the holiday season, light some nice warming cinnamon-scented candles
    • Cozy-scented candles
    • Adds to that relaxing, warming, calming environment
    • Sets the perfect soothing mood in your home
  • Stay in PJs as much as humanly possible
    • Sure, you’ll have to put on real pants IF you need to go somewhere (but try to avoid that at all costs)
    • PJs just make me feel so relaxed and cozy
    • Who really wants to be all dressed up, or even just in denim jeans while they’re sick?!
  • Drink tea w/ honey
    • Chinese Oolong is my favorite when I’m sick
    • Green tea is amazing for your body in general, but of course, also when you’re sick to get rid of those toxins
    • Chamomile at night to help relax my body and mind before bed
    • Stay away from dairy and sugar while sick as they can irritate your already scratchy throat
    • Honey will help to coat your throat and soothe the pain
  • Take a nice long, hot shower/bath
    • Add in some Eucalyptus Shower Tabs
      • Make your own using Vick’s VapoRub with this DIY
    • Add some soothing bubbles
    • Treat yourself to some Lush Cosmetics Bubble Bars or Bath Bombs
    • Bring some candles in to line your relaxing bath
    • Helps to break up all that nasty stuff in your chest and sinuses
  • Vick’s VapoRub
    • Rub on your chest for a cough
    • Rub on feet, cover with socks, and go to bed
      • IF you can stand it, sleep with the socks on, this will break all of that mucus up in your chest
    • If you have a candle warmer, burn (warm) one Tablespoon Vick’s VapoRub and one Tablespoon water
  • Sleep with an extra pillow under your head
    • Elevate your head better and create a better angle for your chest
    • Helps to break up everything in your chest and allow it to move around
  • Rest and Relaxation
    • Doesn’t always mean sleep, sleep, sleep
      • You don’t have to hibernate
    • Don’t push yourself too hard
    • Let your body heal itself
    • Get as much sleep as possible
  • Hydrate yourself
    • If you’re already drinking tea to help feel better while you’re sick, you’re on the right track
    • Be sure to drink a lot of water/fluids
    • Helps to flush the sickness out of your system
    • Keeps your body running at its best
  • Pamper Yourself
    • Give yourself a mini-spa day
    • Maybe do a little mud mask while you’re relaxing in the bath, sip some tea and do your nails
    • Whatever you like to do to pamper yourself, I guarantee it will make you feel better…or at least make you forget you’re sick for a little bit
