Disappointing Beauty Products

Disappointing Beauty Products

UGH how many times does this happen to you…you spend all kinds of money on beauty products that have been so hyped up on youtube, pinterest, instagram, but then you’re insanely disappointed once you try them out.  UGH!!!!  How frustrating is that?!

YouTube made me buy it :o(

I’ve compiled a list of the recent disappointments that I’ve found, but let me know if these products worked better for you.

COVERGIRL Katy Kat Eye Mascara $6.99
Since I have naturally long eyelashes, I don’t usually have a ton of trouble finding mascaras that work, but man this one just did absolutely nothing for me!  I was so disappointed because I love me some Katy Perry, and I love mascaras!  This brush looked really promising, but it didn’t do anything that I thought it was going to do.  The formula of this mascara is way too wet and it just gets all over my lids after I just spent tons of time doing some serious eye makeup!  UGH.  Womp womp!

COVERGIRL LashBlast Volume Mascara $6.29
This mascara formula isn’t bad, but my problem is the brush – I don’t understand it.  It’s so fat, but the bristles are so short and spread apart really weirdly.  For a mascara that claims to give so much volume, it did nothing for me…me, who has naturally long lashes – how do you mess that up?!  The brush separated my lashes in a really weird way and when I wore this mascara, it literally looked like I have no mascara on at all.  Bummer.

NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator $5.29
I’m not sure if the shade just wasn’t right for me, but I was really disappointed in this product.  When I applied it to my face, I found that it didn’t blend very well.  This product just sat on top on top of my skin and made it look funny – it looked like I just had really sparkly sweat on my cheeks.  UGH.

Carol’s Daughter® Black Vanilla Moisture and Shine Leave-In Conditioner $10.99
This one is a bit different, and partly due to personal preference.  I liked the formula of this leave-in conditioner, but I could NOT get past the smell.  The vanilla scent was WAY too much for my liking, and it lingered.  Every single time my hair whipped around a bit, or even if I just bent down to get something out of my bottom drawer of my desk, I was hit with the overwhelming scent of vanilla…which is not one of my favorite scents.  It was too much, it actually made me nauseous.  Yikes.

e.l.f Precision Liquid Eyeliner $2.99
The formula of this eyeliner isn’t bad – it’s super duper black, and doesn’t budge; however, the brush is the problem.  The brush isn’t tapered at all and it’s a bit too wide so I could never get a really thin wing on my eyeliner, it always got messed up really bad, really quickly.  Come on!

Empties – January 2017

Hey guys! I still can’t believe January is done already! Of course, I’ve used up even more products this month, here’s what empties I had:

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream $10.10
I absolutely loved this moisturizing cream!! It was so moisturizing without being oily and creating that weird film on your hands that you get from other moisturizers.  I especially like that it’s unscented, which is weird, usually I like lotions to have some sort of fragrance.  I will definitely be re-purchasing this product!

Basis Cleaner Clean Face Wash $9.98 (3-pack)
This face wash is absolutely amazing, I loved the things it did for my skin!  It doesn’t exactly “foam” up, but I actually liked that because then it was like a gel cleanser that was easily to place on my face!  My only problem with this face wash was the packaging; I like to use this daily face wash in the shower and for some reason (most likely the heat/steam from the shower), I could never get the cap open in the shower and it frustrated me to no extent!

EDEN™ BodyWorks Peppermint Tea Tree Shampoo $8.49
OMG what an amazing shampoo (and conditioner)!!  Tea tree oils do wonderful things for my dry scalp in the Winter and the peppermint is so tingly and makes my hair feel so clean!  The only reason I have not repurchased yet is because this is a cleansing shampoo, which would strip the dye from my hair much quicker than I really want the color to fade, but I tend to use this shampoo the week that I’m going to get my hair “refreshed” so it fades it perfectly and gets it nice and healthy for a fresh new dye!

Just Cookie Dough Chocolate Chip
UM a dairy-free cookie dough that’s ALSO egg-free, which means I can eat it raw?!!  HOW CAN ANYONE NOT BE EXCITED FOR THIS?!  I fell in love with this cookie dough!  I found it at Target and I think it’s my most favorite product I’ve ever found at my beloved Target :o) It tastes exactly like regular cookie dough, AMAZING!  My only gripe was the top layer of cookie dough tastes a bit like plastic because of the plastic cover, BUT once you get thru that first layer, it tastes amazing!  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Batiste Blush Floral & Flirty Dry Shampoo $5.99
I’m pretty sure this product is always in my empty product reviews because, well, I love it so much!  This is by far, my most favorite drugstore dry shampoo!  It really absorbs the oil very well and makes my hair look so refreshed!  It works wonders when I spray a bit in my hair right before I exercise, my hair doesn’t all gross and sweaty!  LOVE IT!

Screen Shot 2017-01-02 at 3.00.56 PM.png

  • Lush Cosmetics Rehab Shampoo $13.95
    • This shampoo is AMAZING
    • It’s smells delightful
    • It really did help to rehab my hair back to health after dying it at home for so long
    • Makes my hair squeaky clean!!
    • I would absolutely re-purchase (I’m actually surprised I haven’t already)

Screen Shot 2017-01-02 at 3.01.03 PM.png

  • e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer $3.99
    • Great for oily skin
    • Helps my makeup to apply better AND last longer through the day
    • Love the silicone feel of it
    • Not cakey at all!
    • SO affordable
    • I would (and already have) re-purchased

Screen Shot 2017-01-02 at 3.01.12 PM.png

  • Sephora Collection Blotting Papers (Rose) $8
    • If you love rose scent, you’ll absolutely fall in love with these
    • The scent isn’t overpowering and doesn’t last on your face so it’s not overwhelming
    • They smell so great while using to absorb oil
    • They absorb excess oil so well
    • Affordable, at $8 for 100 sheets!!!
    • I would definitely re-purchase this product

Screen Shot 2017-01-02 at 3.01.18 PM.png

  • Clean & Clear Deep Action 60-Second Shower Mask $4.74
    • I fell in love with this shower mask
    • I love to muli-task; being able to use this in the shower really helps me stay on schedule
    • It feels so tiny and clean on my skin
    • I love the minty scent!!
    • I HAVE already re-purchased this product ;o)

I also filmed a video recapping all of my used up products from this month:

Products I’ve Used Up (Nov ’16)

Products I’ve Used Up (Nov ’16)

Hey guys, I cannot believe another month has passed; time is flying by!!  Here is a roundup of all the products I’ve used up this month:

Screen Shot 2017-01-02 at 3.17.45 PM.png

  • Lush Cosmetics American Cream Conditioner
    • This conditioner is AMAZING
    • The scent is a nice rich floral scent that lasts all day, but it’s not overwhelming; perfect!
    • I have naturally oily skin/scalp, so I’m pretty picky about conditioners (even though I only apply conditioner to the ends of my hair, NOT at the root), but this one is great in that it doesn’t make my hair oily
    • I would definitely stick to the small bottle if you don’t use a lot (like if you only apply to the ends of your hair like I do) because it does expire; don’t worry, the expiration date is on a bright yellow sticker on the bottle
    • I will definitely re-purchase so long as it’s safe for color treated hair

Screen Shot 2017-01-02 at 3.17.52 PM.png

  • Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser
    •  I really enjoyed this face primer
    • It doesn’t make my skin any more oily than it already is
    • It fills in pores without making them look cakey, it sort of fills them in and then creates a nice, smooth base for your makeup to adhere to
    • I love the silicone-like primers, I find they work best for my oily skin and larger pores
    • I will re-purchase

Screen Shot 2017-01-02 at 3.20.03 PM.png

  • NYX HD Concealer
    • I hope to the holy heavens that they never ever stop making this product!!
    • So affordable!!!
    • It’s the perfect thickness, not too thick, not too thin, and it’s super creamy
    • Doesn’t burn my under eyes
    • My ONLY complaint is I wish there was more product in this little tube; I find I run out pretty quickly, but it’s such an affordable concealer, it’s not a huge deal
    • I have already re-purchased and will continue to re-purchase

Screen Shot 2017-01-02 at 3.18.12 PM.png

  • Loreal Paris Pro-Matte Infallible Foundation
    • Love this foundation for the Summer ONLY
    • It’s perfect for my oily skin
    • It’s super mattifying, but doesn’t dry out my skin
    • It’s so lightweight, I can’t even tell I have on any foundation at all
    • I’ve learned that I can’t use any powder with this foundation at all, not even the matching pro-matte infallible powder; it separates and balls up on my skin if I even think of using powder
    • I will re-purchase next Summer
  • Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Primer
    • Ummmm, I’m on the fence with this primer
    • It has a funky smell…like dusty plastic
    • HOWEVER, if you can deal with the smell, it is a pretty good primer
    • The good news is the smell doesn’t last all day; once I applied my makeup, I couldn’t smell that stench anymore
    • It’s not advertised as a mattifying primer so it obviously didn’t control the shine, which kind of sucked, but oh well
    • I didn’t LOVE this primer, so I probably won’t re-purchase

I also did a video review of all these [empty] products, you can watch here:
